The Karoo Will Provide

The minute I descend down the last pass entering the Gats River Canyon, making my way down to the campsite to finalise the last of the welcoming setup before the group arrives on foot, I feel a sense of total relaxation come over me. I know that by now we do not need anything more. Nothing else from the “outside world” will improve our experience down by the river.  We have done what we could to make sure our guests are comfortable and well looked after. From now on, the Karoo will provide. And I am sure that the guests must feel that same atmosphere as they walk down and witness the camp for the first time.

Now, without phones and watches and cameras to distract them, they can finally relax and take a step back from daily routines, work schedules and family responsibilities. Now it is just us, the small group of pioneers hidden in the Karoo’s deep folds, following Julie’s lead and the flow of nature’s schedule. I see the value our guests get from this. This total exfoliation from society. There is time. Time for yourself. Time to spend with yourself in a curated environment where every move is deliberate and every experience carries meaning. I see our guests opening up, being themselves, clearing their minds, finding something that they knew they missed but had no clue where to start looking.

The Karoo Cares

The Karoo cares. The space that we operate in is vast, clean, clear, devoid of human touch and so too becomes the mind that wanders in it. It is a reset if you like, valuable time to reflect on what was and what is to come. It is all about new experiences in a new environment that quickly becomes homely, warm and safe. That is the magic of an Inventure in the Karoo.
