The ‘Call of the Karoo’ Collection
A couple of years ago, we decided to change a few things in our consulting room at The Sanctuary and look for a new piece of art for the wall. One afternoon, we came across a magnificent leaf printed on a linen panel. We bought it, hung it up, and continue to enjoy it.
Fast forward to mid last year, and through some unplanned conversations that took place on the side of a cricket field, Amanda du Plessis, Founder and Creative Director of Evolution Product, decided to join us on an Inventure in the Karoo last October. In our one-to-one before we headed out, Amanda walked into our consulting room, stopped, stared, and expressed her sheer delight at seeing her leaf design hanging on the wall.
What I didn’t know at the time was how deep Amanda’s roots run in the Karoo, or that her latest collection was named The Call of the Karoo.
As Amanda writes:
“A return to Graaff-Reinet and an off-grid Inventure in the Sneeu Mountains breathed new life into my connection with the Karoo. These analogue frames hold the layers of landscape and story that shape the newest additions to this collection.”
