Self Rediscovered
Mary-Lyn Raath
Some weeks have passed since my Inventure retreat to the Karoo with Julie. While the immediate effect of 5 days away can always be felt, the long term outcome for true behaviour change is often more necessary.
My Inventure gave me a “come back to self,” a platform that stripped away all influences, leaving behind only what I am. It gave me time to be quiet and just be, time to think, to reflect, to pause… and to truly understand what it means to feel lost in the words of David Wagoner.
The lasting effects I feel creep up on me as daily reminders to go gently into the world; to be kind and patient with myself; to take life not so seriously. Now far more often I catch myself looking with wonder and joy at the simple things and relish those for what they are.
I did not expect an epiphany. What I got was a catalyst, the spark to ignite a growing new perspective from here on.
Life is different now.
