The philosophy of inventure serves as the foundation for our work with individuals and groups within and across various contexts. It is held by the five interconnected principles of creating space, slowing down, savouring beauty, embracing simplicity, and cultivating joy.
Creating space
Experiencing the fullness of space within, between us and around us
The space we see and experience in nature reflects the natural state of spaciousness within.
As we witness this slow expansion, through the rhythmic cycle of each conscious breath, we begin to come alive to what lies within, between us and around us, a reconnection to the fullness of space.
The stillness that is invited through creative endeavours makes room and gives permission for all parts of ourselves to coexist. When we embrace spaciousness within our body, heart, and mind, there is a subtle shift from doing towards being. We access a quiet that draws us in to listen to the sacred story of our own heart. It creates an openness within the entangled crevasses of our being so that we can be more attuned to the faint murmurs of our soul, feel fully alive and experience the miracle of our humanness.
Slowing down
An experience of being beyond our perception of time
Slowing down is more than a mere adjustment of pace; it is a way of being that redefines our perception of time. By attuning to the pace of the earth and the natural flow of nature’s seasons, we align to our innate rhythms.
The paradox of the ‘everything in nothing’ and ‘nothing in everything’ coexistence invites a slowing down as we cultivate an attentiveness to the world around us. In the discomfort of stillness, truth is often unveiled, where moments of contemplative solitude become the great equaliser, offering us new perspectives. Within this context our senses begin to reawaken, and the richness of our experience is savoured.
Slowing down extends beyond the confines of time, and it is here that the beauty of each moment can unfold and infuse our life with greater meaning.
Savouring beauty
Nurturing our capacity for beauty as an experience of deepened presence
Beauty is grounded in presence. As we slow down and begin to notice the profound artistry of the earth, we are drawn towards that which has patiently been awaiting our return. It is in returning that we nourish our capacity for presence and the multidimensional experience of beauty.
Through a reviving of our primary senses, sight, sound, taste, touch, and our most ancient sense of smell – we become gently immersed in the experience of embodied presence, connectedness and feeling fully alive. It is through this experience that we expand our capacity to hold the intensity of awe and wonder.
To savour the timeless quality of beauty is to experience the purest form of aliveness.
Embracing simplicity
A return to simplicity as an experience of our most natural state.
Embracing simplicity involves the acknowledgment of the existence of complexity. It is an intentional movement toward choices that support deeper connection. The purity and elegance of the natural world invites us to shed needless complexities and find resonance in nature’s inherent order. The tranquility of expansive landscapes and the rhythmic dance of the elements mirror the grace inherent in simplicity.
Through an immersion of self into nature’s timeless embrace, we discover that the act of simplifying is not merely about minimising, but a profound path toward rediscovering the richness that lies in the space between each breath, each heartbeat, and each moment of quiet contemplation.
Much like the soil that patiently nurtures new growth, we nurture the environment for renewal and allow for a reimagining of our human experience in union with the natural world.
Cultivating Joy
Remembering the freedom of joy as an embodied experience.
The cultivation of joy is coming alive to the fullness of our senses, the depth of our intuition and the wonders of nature. It is a creative adventure that awakens curiosity and playful exploration. It is a discovery that opens our hearts to laughter, lightness, and freedom.
As we learn the language of the sky above and the ground below, we nurture our capacity for delight. We invite our breath to play the role of an enchanted messenger, reflecting and echoing our encounters of awe as an embodied experience of joy.
Joy resides in, but most often beyond, grand endeavours. It is experienced in moments of being, cultivated through creating space, slowing down, savouring beauty, and recognising the art of simplicity in it all.
